Happy Friday👋
What’s up? 🧩
A short, but hopefully sweet, issue this one.
Here are the best things I found on Internet this week.
New to me 💡
The Common Denominator of Success | 13 min read
📧 The “common denominator” is simple, but as with many other simple things, that’s why they are hard to achieve. Like Blaise Pascal once said about a letter “I have made this longer than usual because I have not had time to make it shorter.”
🗺 “Why are successful people able to do things they don’t like to do while failures are not? Because successful people have a purpose strong enough to make them form the habit of doing things they don’t like to do in order to accomplish the purpose they want to accomplish.”
20 Things I’ve Learned in my 20 Years as a Software Engineer | 11 min read
👨💻 Very interesting list of ideas for software people with some of the principles still applying to many other areas. Like the one below.
✒ “Software engineers should regularly blog, journal, write documentation and in general do anything that requires them to keep their written communication skills sharp. Writing helps you think about your problems, and helps you communicate those more effectively with your team and your future self.”
Antifragille: Things That Gain from Disorder | 55 min watch
📖 I finished this book 2 weeks ago so it only makes sense to watch this talk from the time of its release. If you were, even if a little bit, intrigued by what I wrote in that newsletter issue I think this hour will fly (you can put it in a background tab and listen like a podcast without losing much).
Please help me grow this newsletter! I’d love if you shared it with your more curious friends.
A most coated tweet 🥉
This week in a gif 😦
High note ⚡
This issue cover picture comes from here.
Last issue most clicked link was The unreasonable effectiveness of just showing up everyday.
I hope you enjoyed these last minutes as much as me putting this together.
You can also show some love by clicking that tiny ❤️ at the top of the email. It would help spread the word. Or leave a review here ⭐. Or you can provide candy bars 🍫.
If you are one of those friends and someone shared this with you, you are in luck, buy them a beer next time you are together, and meanwhile, you can subscribe to This Week’s Worth here:
Until next week,
